Cap-Ferrat-Villa Ephrussi de Rothshild-Gossip and anecdotes

La Goelette, on the port tel 0493761438. Closed Tuesday except in July-August.
Interesting menus for 17.50 € and 26 €: mesclun a l’émincé d’escargots, panier du pecheur, several Spanish eyeing plats, aioli, turbot aux champignons. Not the highest refinement but stays honest. And what do want for these prices?

Le Sloop, on the new port tel 0493014863 fax 0493014863 . Closed Wednesday in low season and 15 Nov to 15 Dec.
A friend told me: It’s a pity that the bills are so expensive! I don’t think so. You get what you pay for. The meal is agreeable under the parasols facing the yachts in the port. The welcoming is adorable, staff efficiency, a very well held restaurant with refined cuisine. The attraction of this pace is the wonderful menu for 24.50 €, excellent ratio quality price, well presented and served with attention. Printanières de legumes aux langoustines roties, foie gras de canard sauté aux Sauternes, daurade grillée, crottin de chévre à l’abricot sec, beignets de fleurs d’acacia. It’s far out the best restaurant out of the million ones along the port!!

Le Skipper, always on the new port tel and fax 0493760111.
Facing the boats you can quietly eat here if you’re a fish eater. Excellent niveau even if the place looks more a brasserie than a restaurant. Quality/price is alos here a certainty: for 17 € (moules marinières, superb sole de petit bateau au beurre citronné, profiterolles)

Hotel-Pension Patricia, rue de l’Ange Gardien, Pont-Saint-Jean tel 0493010670
For an inexpensive, smiling and friendly address this is a good recommendation. I have through a French guidebook. The house is charming, typical Provencal, has a large garden and a…parking (very important. Double room for 35.50 € to 57 €.

La Bastide, 3 avenue Albert 1er tel 0493760678
This is St.Jean Cap Ferrat so let’s not be too difficult. The rooms are honest, the reception could do better. Rooms with shower and WC are for 45-51 €, less if you can miss the shower. During high season you must take half-board for 55 € per person. Unfortunately the cuisine is not up to these standards. The upper rooms are the nicest.

Le Clair Logis, 12 avenue Centrale.tel 0493760457.
According to different guide books General de Gaulle came here to rest in 1952. I can understand why. It’s a grand exotic garden in an agreeable setting and in a residential quarter. The rooms are comfortable and well decorated with bathroom and toilets. Cost 67.50 € for a room with shower and toilets (low season) and 106 € in high season.  More expensive as the precedent address but it’s incomparable. Reservations required minimum 3 weeks in advance in the summer.

La Fregate, 11 avenue Denis Semeria tel 0493760451 fax 0493761493
Best location you can imagine, right on the port.  Singles with shower for 235 FF.  Doubles with bath or shower for 49.50 to 53 €. 68.50 € with airco.

L’Oursin, 1 avenue Denis Semeria. Tel 0493760465 fax 0493761255
Prices low season from 38.75-49 €. High season 63-76.25 €.

Brise-Marine, 58 avenue Jean Mermoz tel 0493760436 fax 0493761149
A pink house with a pretty garden with large and comfortable rooms, of which certain look out on the sea. Rooms from 122-132 €.
