San Marco (Take into consideration these are very centrally located and therefore not inexpensive. But to Venetian standards, they are not exaggerated.

This charming small hotel is very conveniently located between San Marco
and the Rialto bridge, but in a very quiet neighborhood. A 3 minute walk
from the Sant'Angelo #1 Vaporetto stop, 15 minutes to San Marco or the
Rialto Bridge. The reader Mr.Ph.S. from Boston, stayed 6 nights in their
main facility in room #4, a tiny but acceptable room, with an amazingly
compact bathroom, however the bed was large and comfy. The staff was
fluent in English, very friendly, and helpful.
Don’t make a mistake: the Locanda Fiorito is not a 4-star deluxe hotel.
However, it's modest,
clean, and convenient, one of the least expensive in Venice, and a very
good value.
Most rooms are "in the back" of the building, directly over a
restaurant and could disturb light sleepers (presumably the restaurant
closes at midnite, as you can close the window. There are a few rooms that
are "in the front" and may be quieter. No idea if any of the
rooms have aircon - but Mr.Ph.S. room had a fan.
The continental breakfast consists of a carafe of strong delicious coffee
or tea, a few fresh rolls, and small packs of spreads like cheese,
nutella,butter, and jam.
For reservations they require faxes for booking rooms, although they do
have email but don’t did seem to be answering .

Some very cheap recommendations for places to stay in Venice........Yes, that exists. Not so luxurious but you have a bed to sleep. Others more luxurious and more expensive. But that's Venice!
Albergo Guerrato, 240/A, Calle dietro la Scimia, San Polo tel 0415227131 fax 0415285927
Next to the Rialto vaporetto stop, an ancient convent, certain rooms are
decorated with ancient frescoes, discovered during a recent renovation.
The rooms are simple, but spacious, luminous and each room has a
breathtaking view of Venice. Excellent and helpful service. The ambience
is very convivial, like in a big family. You feel at home. If you want a
quiet room, ask one which doesn't look out on the market. You also receive
a very good breakfast. This isn't Giacomo's favorite, but if you want to
be near the action, this is a good place.
