For night life I’m a little to old to know a lot about that :-). But I can tell you that certain areas re universally known for their animation. You will easily see the difference between the "quartier Latin"( the trendy cafes à la mode around the Bourla Theater and the Meir) and the "Greek area" situated near the old harbor and St.Paul church. That’s more the brothel area but with a very stunning view of the feminine bodies displayed in the pink, rose lighted windows: a real spectacle!!

De Muze sounds like a place I would really like! I’m really into Jazz. Is Thursday a set day for having live Jazz there? Thursday is the Jazz evening in the Muze. Sometimes also on other days.

Other cafes with music are de Muziekdoos, Lange Nieuwstrat 7 tel 2274654. Closed Monday and Tuesday. Jam sessions all Fridays by very good blues musicians!

Afternoon concerts of Jazz in Jabeau, Zakstraat on Sunday afternoon about 16h or in the museum area at Café Hopper , Leopold de Waelstraat 2 tel 2484933. Open at 1.030. Concerts also on Sunday afternoon.

A good place to hear jazz is also the Swingcafe, Suikerrui 13-15 tel 2337075. Near the Grote markt and the port. You hear the music from far. Numerous and varied concerts. A lot of people. And to finish the “Pacific”, Jan van Gentstraat 7 tel 2482877. Big loft which makes whole Antwerp eat, drink and dance.
