Hotel
rooms are not cheap in Honfleur. If you plan to stay book well in advance. Some
weekends it is even impossible to get a room in radius of 100 km!
Le
Belvedere,
36, rue Emile-Renouf, 1km from the port tel 0231890813 fax 0231895140.
Quiet hotel in a quiet neighbourhood,
moderate range, rooms from 300 to 440 FF. Often sold out on weekends. Also
restaurant: menus for 15.50, 22 and 40.50 €.
Ferme
de la Grande Cour, Cote de Grace tel
0231890469 fax 0231892729.
Discovered through a leading
‘backpackers’ travel guide. In the countryside and very agreeable. Large,
comfortable rooms with doubles for 40 to 64 €. Simple
and good cuisine, mostly fruits de mer. Menus for 17.50, 27.50 and 36 €.
Hotel
des Loges, 18 rue Brulee tel
0231893826
Entirely renovated hotel. Very cute,
adorable reception. Well studied
comfort and well-decorated rooms. But no soundproof windows which is a bit noisy.
Doubles for 50 to 62.50 €, according to the size of the room.
Hostellerie
Lechat, place Sainte-Catherine tel 0231144949
fax 0231892861
Traditional hotel, impeccably located in
front of eglise Sainte Catherine. Nice interior with neat rooms in rustic style,
maybe a little dark. Notice the house is in stone and covered wild grape. Rooms
for 55-94 €.
Castel
Albertine, 19 cours Albert-Manuel tel
0231988556 fax 0231988318
A little out of the centre, a large bourgeois house, let’s say an almost
intact manor (19th century) with garden and immense trees. Authentic
and cared décor in flourished (English style??), very agreeable and intimate
rooms. Sauna and parking at your disposal. Rooms go for 61-93 €.
L’Ecrin,
19 rue Eugène Boudin tel 0231144345 fax 0231892441
Stunning manor in its private park, with a mad Art Deco furniture. Vast rooms
with canopy beds. Nice tapestries and carpets. The parlour looks more like a
museum than a hotel. Has a garden. A pity that reception is not always friendly.
Avoid the annex, quite ugly. Rooms 61-145 €.
La Chaumière,
at Vasouy on the coastal road. Tel 02331816320 fax 0231895923
Owned by the same family as the better known "La Ferme Saint-Simeon" situated
close by, this authentic half-timbered former farmhouse is facing the sea and surrounded
by a haven of green landscapes. It has a good location with excellent views over
the estuary. Here they make sure to make you appreciate
Norman cuisine and the splendour of the surrounding Norman countryside the staff
and management being extremely nice.
Rooms
vary from richly furnished, flourished with beamed ceilings to more simple and
smaller rooms. Very well equipped.
I didn't dine at the place but I was
informed that the food is
outstandingly
good. The staff is extremely both
pleasant and efficient.
Luxury has a price: 145-215 €. Reception is
very friendly. Relais and chateaux. Click on the picture to enlarge. Credit
