Meeting-point of Antibes locals, well protected behind the ramparts, such a
place is become very rare on the Cote d’Azur! What is very amusing about this small "guingette" archi-known in whole Antibes is the difficulty to find it! But before getting there you must find a parking place for your car!! Let's forget this very annoying search and let's concentrate on the restaurant Well protected behind the ramparts. This is such a charming place, with its garland of multi-coloured lamp bulbs, knotty vine-trellis, heavy grapes and
terrace
under a genuine arbour. Total authenticity! On Friday, "aioli is the specialty, the menu is for
10 € and you could sit next to Georges Clooney or Cindy Crawford. Carte count
26-34 €.
Relaxed, marvellous reception and service. A real Provencal setting. No tourists
(lately a bit more) around, where are they? Everything is done in good spirit and cooked with fresh ingredients. Simple cuisine like sardines panes, poelée de perchette, tarte maison. No credit cards.
Reservation is absolutely imperative.
Chez
Juliette, 18
rue Sade. Closed Monday lunch and Tuesday lunch.
Inexpensive menu for 14 €. The cadre is charming in its vaulted cave. Other
menus for 15.50 to 26 €.
L’Oursin,
16, rue de la Republique.
Another place usually frequented by locals for the good fish and
seafood they serve here. The décor reminds us that: the ship décor, beautiful
mahogany woodwork. Everything is fresh, attentive and smiling. Menu for 15.50 €, a
la carte count 29 € wine included.
La
Bonne Auberge, RN 7 towards Nice just before Villeneuve-Loubet.
Closed Monday. UPDATED
Philippe Rostang, the son of Joseph was one of the first to understand that the
new generation needed inexpensive but high-refined cuisine, oscillating between
tradition and modernity. If this place succeeded to regularize its faithful clientele all along the years,
he innovated also the famous carte-menu. Its formula (choice of 6 entrées, seven plats, cheese and seven desserts) exists since 9 years and continues to exist.
Always-superb quality of this give away menu for 31 €. It's incomparable! Between the great classics of this
house that received some of the grand names in this world, the "soufflé de quenelles de brochet and the mille-feuille à
" The décor of his
restaurant changed completely: pastel colours (blue and pink), nice new
furnishing and attentive service.A great moment of happeurs for the amateurs of grand
cuisine!Other menu 60 €. Carte 21-32 €.

Great success for this place, thanks to the charm of the large, vaulted
dining-room , full view on the Antibes ramparts. Also a magnificent
menu-carte for 34 €, although the
quality has diminished a little the last years. Served by a young and efficacious team I was rather disappointed last
time, since I remembered my previous visits. Pissaladiere a l’effeuillé de
morue fraiche, cul de lapereau aux pates fraiches, creme brulée à la lavande.
La Gravette, 48 boulevard d'Aiguillon tel 0493341860. Antibes
Very near to the porte Marine leading to the sea, a large, sympathetic and convivial terrace. The pageot" (fish) is flawlessly grille, the patron brings the bouillabaisse personally at the table in its huge casserole, and the usual customers refill their "crème catalana" since they won't want to miss the house specialty.
