Except a few minor but good average restaurants like
Le Bistrot de Paris on the place Saint-Patrice tel 0231920082,
Serving not stupid cuisine-) (like steak-frites) but quenelles de Saint-Jacques fraîches, barbue au beurre rouge, bar rôti au fenouil, filet de canette aux pommes. Menu for
20.75 €.
Le Pommier, 40 rue des Cuisiniers, tel 0231215210. Not far from the cathedral, a fresh cuisine, not super refined but very edible considering other tourist traps around. Keep it in your bookmarks ;-).
Remoulade de boulots, turbot grille a la fleur de sel, pave de morue fraiche à la cidre, all this is very well prepared and not expensive.
11 € for lunch and 23 € for dinner.
The best and only recommended by Gault/Millau (today 12/20) was a good experience, it is dating from 1997 but I scrupulously noted it since I had already my idea of this web site.
Le Lion d'Or, 71 rue Saint-Jean tel 0231920690 fax 0231221564
Complaints from some readers and even the Gault/Millau mentions it in its recent edition, too many tourists have spoiled the quality of this place. I had the luck to have a very good dinner here but that was three years ago.
I remember a seducing, flourished, pastel coloured house, with a very inspired cuisine, the one you eat in the Bordeaux area. The service and welcoming was impeccable. On the menu were: fricassée de sole au beurre de cidre, tuiles croquantes aux lardons, huîtres chaudes en feuilleté, soupe du pêcheur and desserts like aumoniere glacée aux pommes. Menus
