Just like shoes, they are always two. They are twins, as well concerning the uniform, the thoughts, logic, the punishing gesture. And they are sworn in! They are THE law. They know the excitement of doing justice just like that on the street, on the sidewalk. People's court. The real administration of justice sparing nobody, making no difference between rich and poor, string or weak, the ugly little duck or the Bentley. 
But when their service is over they will go home, tired and exhausted, button their apron on their aching back, prepare the daily stew, a little bit discouraged, like artists would feel when the curtain is down after the play.
