Back
to Hidden, unknown Paris
In the 13th arrondissement, between the porte d'Italie and the portes de Choisy and Ivry, Paris became Chinese since quite a long time already.
Have a walk around 48-avenue d'Ivry, loaded with ads, publicity boards, banners and ideograms neither Parisian nor you will understand a word. Several supermarkets are side by side. The biggest, the most "insolite", strange and special one is the one of the famous brothers Tang. "Famous" because, every time Chinatown Paris is in the news, the brothers Tang are part of it. Fact is, that at their place you can find a most alluring rotisserie, with "canards lacqués" (lacquered ducks) and other Pekinese goodies as well as Cantonese. Exotic odours all around, caressing your nostrils. Clients are 99% Chinese, Vietnamese, and you are sure you are strolling in some Shangai or Hong-Kong place. Paris? Where
Paris? And that I found a bottle of Joseph Perrier de Chalons-en-Champagne in this place left me flabbergasted.
