Back
to Hidden, unknown Paris
On the Place de la Madeleine, next to the flower market at the church Madeleine, take
thespiralling staircase down to the subterranean art nouveau luxurious toilettes publiques, a cavern of carved
wood, brass and mirrors, with floral frescoes and stained-glass windows in each
toilet! And each toilet has its private washbasin. Maybe the most beautiful in the world, realized in 1905 by the Porcher manufacture. Awake the maybe sleeping Madame Pipi (as bathroom attendants are still
called). Notice the impressive imperial throne for shoe shining and let's admit
it, it's really a uncommon place, as ell as the care of hygiene as for the style all around
you. Open from 9.30-11.30 and 12.30-18.45
