Back
to Hidden, unknown Paris
A bistro in a vineyard, Jacques Melac, 42 rue
Leon Frot and mechanic music with Charrial, 43 rue Leon Frot.
With his vineyard, the bistro of Jean Melac is quite astonishing. The vine stock
is planted in his
cellar, passes through the floor and the walls. When the wine season is there,
leaves and grapes decorate his whole façade. And when the raisin is ready for
harvesting, Mélac, president of the "Vignerons de Paris", calls out
for reinforcement. At the corner of the rues Leon Frot and Emile Lepeu, it's the
fiesta, the vendanges. Mélac makes about 20 bottles and you can also enjoy his
"rillettes, ham, soups and oter dishes". Everybody is welcome.
At the other side of the street, at no.43, Pierre Charrial, adapter,
transcriptor of music on tapes for mechanical organs (orgues de Barbarie), has
his garden full of vineyards. Charrial and Mélac are two good friends. And the
visit of Charrial's atelier is worth the detour.
