Paris sketches-The grumpy waiter at the Paris-Madeleine |
||
|
Rue Royale. Short, with a moustache a la Clark Gable, excited, arrogant. Says no "hello", "thank you" or "au revoir". He serves the scarce clients on this gloomy Sunday morning, aggravated because he has to work that day. He throws the ash trays on the table, puts the coffee cups with a lot of noise and show on the tables on the tables, grabs the money out of your hands. A lady with snowwhite hair just came in. She sits down on the bench, the waiter following her in wake. Shyly she says: "Sorry, but I'm in a hurry" and the grump answers: " Well Lady, you don't have to tell me that you're in a hurry! Better tell me right away what you want so you won't lose your time." Everybody is his own dictator. |
