Rue des Belles-Feuilles - Delicatessen-delicatessen.

France and gastronomy are two conceptions completely entangled into each other. That's why Paris is full of small and bigger delicatessen shops. Nothing comparable with "delicatessen" notion in the States.
It is striking that most of these shops are concentrated in one street: rue des Belles-Feuilles, side street of the avenue Victor Hugo. Walking through it will tickle your nostrils with mouth watering and sublime odours. Fish, the sweet smell of fruit, grilled chicken or this incredible bread odour, so typical for France. One of the highlights is "LA CHARCUTERIE ALSACIENNE" at no.37, tel 0147273374, selling since 1876, like the name says, several Alsatian products. Own made pâté, pastry cooks, and potato cakes are only one of the many in the presented assortment. You cannot miss the staff: all dressed in Alsatian outfit.
A second highlight is just the next door at no.35, tel 0147276908, where cheese is the main attraction. Jean Claude Lillo, with its 200 cheese sorts, is a Paris landmark, an unavoidable place to go when you want an enormous choice in quality and different cheeses. The dried champignons and fresh gnocchi are also a must.
Further on, in the street, fish is everywhere. Oysters, salmon, tuna and trout are displayed nicely. Draped in ice baskets or hand made, wooden cases. Smells attack you already from far away.

Eat en drink in Passy:

The 16th is not so famous about its modern culinary performances. But it seems that changments are in sight! Let's forget" Bon", the latest of Philippe Starck, 25 rue de la Pompe", beautiful but extremely inedible, and let's concentrate to quality.

Boulangerie Paul, 61 rue de la Pompe tel 0145035560, a traditional bakery with sublime artisanal rolls and bread.

Toastissimo, 16 rue Jean Bologne, with Italian roasted sandwiches (tuna to baked aubergine).

Lina's, 112 avenue Kleber, part of a chain but has marvellous biologic stuffed rolls.

La Gare, 19 chausée de la Muette, 16th century train station, turned into a modern restaurant.

Oum el Banine, 16 bis rue Dufresnoy, Moroccan restaurant with a great dish that I advise to all amateurs: the "kefta tagine".
