A Valentinois is born in Valenciennes, a Draguignanais in Draguignan and a Briochain in Saint-Brieuc---but a Parisian is not born in Paris, he reborns here. He is not from Paris, he belongs there. He doesn�t live in Paris, he lives from Paris. Paris is a city to live from and die from. Paris is not the city where you see your first daylight, it�s the city where daylight suddenly appears to you when you loiter around. A Parisian is not like a citizen of Clermont-Ferrand---a Parisian is member of an art club. You are chosen to be Parisian�.. for life.
It�s a dignity.
But it is also a task.
If Paris gives you the honour to accept you, you must serve and honour her.
To love Paris makes you haughty, because you need the city so bad that you finally believe you can help her.
