Every day of the week there is a market somewhere in Aix-en-Provence. The most important is on the place des Precheurs (vegetables, fruit, clothing, collectibles, bric a brac)on Tuesday, Thursday and saturday morning. On the same day a flower market is held on the place de l'Hotel de Ville. Books and flee market on the place de Verdun. Producers market every day under the plane trees of the place de Richelme. Regale your sense-organs: here are the most delicious olives, which is not surprising when you know that about 2,000 olive producers live in the countryside owning together 300,000 olive trees.
Old city and its narrow streets swarm with antique boutiques (rue Espariat and rue Papassaudi. A lot of choice in "Santon" little figures, Provencal crib material. And everywhere the Aix-en-Provence's titbit: "le calisson d'Aix". Made with almonds and confit melon.
