Le Monocle, 48 rue Carnot no phone. NO bankcard
Small place with correct and original plats around 11.50
€. Salades composees, diverse charcuteries. Very sympathetic welcome.

La Gousse d’Ail, 25, rue Carnot. Tel 0490921687 Closed Wednesday in winter.
Jazz music on Thursday evenings. Good price/quality relation. For lunch a menu for 15.50
€. Menu for 28.50 € (with vegetarian dishes). Specialties: escargots a la crème d’ail, noisette d’agneau en brioche, soupe au pistou.

Le Café des Arts, 30 boulevard Victor-Hugo. Closed Tuesdays. tel 0490920850
This place stayed authentic because of the simple fact that in the 60’s, when everybody transformed his restaurant in a sort of “bar américain”, nothing of that kind happened. Today they harvest their reward, just like in Van Gogh times. Walls are covered with paintings from local artists, the food is really nothing special, but that’s not the point here! . Menus 20
€ and 23.50 €. On Fridays they serve aioli.  Plat du jour 10-11.50 €.
Closed begin November and February.

Restaurant Xa, 24, boulevard Mirabeau. Closes Wednesdays. Tel 0490924123
Simple carte juggling with the daily market on a sympathetic terrace, this is one of the secrets of this hearty small bistro. You need to reserve. All around you are pretty bistro chairs, numerous mirrors, and movie projectors. You are welcomed here as in apartment. Menu for 23.50
€. Original finds in the plats like escalope de noix de ris de veau poelées au sot-y-laisse, bouchées à la reine au filet de boeuf, the parfait de foies de volaille et confit d’oignons, emince de veau au citron or the compote de rhubarbe avec son coulis de framboise, pyramide croustillante au chocolat fondant! …

Restaurant Alain Assaud, 13 boulevard Marceau tel 0490923711
In his house, centre town, this chef goes right to the core of his art with an exceptional touch. A very good address where you can have a regal for 24.50
€: asperges vertes croquantes et mousseline parfumée, unctuous galette croustillante de pommes de terre, gaillarde de brandade de morue and an irresistible rhubarb tart.  Any other grandma’s plat that the hyper-talented chef will have the envy to cook, mixing the savors of his country. Another menu for 36 €.

La Taberna Romana, site de Glanum tel 0490926597. Open only when the site of Glanum is open. Just next to the excavations proposing a menu with antique savors for 16.25 €.

La Maison Jaune, 15 rue Carnot. Tel 0490925614
Center town. Closed in the summer on Mondays and Tuesday for lunch.
Became one of St.Remy’s top restaurants.  Charming house with a nice terrace. Are you ready for a little “ folie” of great class?? An epurated cuisine of great class, sober and rigorous, singing with the market savours. The décor looks as if it came out of a decoration magazine. Light lunch for 20
€ only served for lunch during the week. Otherwise count 28.50 to 48 € for the menus.
Raviole de brousse de brebis et jambon cru au pistou, galette de pommes de terre et truffe de Haute Provence au noix de Saint-Jacques grilles, carré d’agneau à l’ail roussi et pommes de terre à la fleur de sel, very refined desserts like the croustillant de de sesame noir or the millefeuillle de fraises et citron vert. Stop!! I’m getting hungry….
