La
Cuisine du Marché, 13 place Gambetta tel
0490715600. In summer it closes on
Sunday, in winter on Sunday evening and Wednesday evening, the whole year it
closes on Saturday for lunch.
Good quality/price restaurant. You have to walk up a first floor of a shabby
looking building located in the heart of Cavaillon. But the dining room is nice
and well decorated. The cuisine is typical meridional and you eat here a cuisine
made out of nice products prepared with science by the chef like the
lasagnes de thon au basilic, the bourride de baudroie or pigeon au miel et aux
epices. Menus for 11.50 (only week and lunch), 14.50, 20 and 25 €.
La
Fleur de Thym, 91 rue Jean-Jacques-Rousseau
tel 0490741464. Closed Sunday
and Monday morning and also the whole month of July.
Guided by a travel restaurant guide I
ate here two years ago. A discovery! The house is cute with its pink façade and
vaulted cellar. The cuisine was excellent. A convincing marriage between
tradition and modern savours. The
galette d’epeautre aux abats d’agneau was a total succes, as the ragout de
julienne a l’orge perlée, or the fristoullis de gogot du pays de Sault à la
barde de lard.
There is a lunch menu for 14 € but as you could reda above I advice you
the carte!!
A classic in this place for dessert is a riz au lait au melon confit, absolutely
divine!
La
Fin de Siécle, 42 place du Clos tel
0490712885. Closed on Sunday.
Same system as the Cuisine du Marché:
you have to go up to the first floor. But the ambience is different. I was here
15 years ago and had a tremendous good experience. I returned the year after and
had one of the biggest disappointments I ever had. Strange…. Now I read the
place is again on e of the leading tables in Cavaillon so try it out. The décor
is very padded and the cuisine offers dished with very long names;-)but to make
it simple: raviolis, caillettes de lapin à la marjolaine, tatin de pigeonneau
aux pommes, crème brulée and other alluring desserts. All these a la carte but
you have a cheap menu for 14.25 €.
