An 18th century restored and rustic farmstead, set
quietly in elegance amid fields in the valley below hectic Gordes. The place
Belgian owned so it must be good ;-. They have a pool and a terrace overlooking
the pool and lovely gardens. The place is run by a young fellow who is also the
chef. He cooks with imagination. As is, is a popular place book well ahead.
Bedrooms are grouped around the courtyard, are small and a little dark, with
stone floors, farm implements on the wall and rag rugs. The rooms are very well
equipped. Single for 62.50 €. Doubles for
71-111 €.

Across a ravine from this
fashionable village an 18th century bastide nicely converted. Pretty rooms,
large bathrooms, swimming pool, and pleasant terrace with superb views. Rooms
cost 80-130 €.
Le Mas de la Senancole,

January and February.
A mas with a typical Provencal décor
and comfort. The building seems new but the ambience is old Provence with a
garden and a swimming pool. The
rooms are comfortable and cost 42.75 €
with shower, WC and TV. You must add 8 €
for the A/C in the summer. If you need more space there are two apartments, a
little more expensive.

November 1 to mid-March.
A recent construction, but arranged
like you see only in movies located in Provence. This very location, at the
entrance of the village drags you right into “the Provence” and its odours. Pretty
garden, with its stones and style “mas de Provence”. Swimming pool and
patio-terrace. Inside it’s very comfortable. One travel guide said a very true
remark about the place: “you feel
a little like visiting friends who have a beautiful house!” Rooms with shower
and WC from 66.50 to 110.50 €
(less expensive in low season of course). Some have a
private terrace and are all well equipped
Auberge
de la Carcarille,

Quite recent construction built totally in style. Rooms are cosy and
comfortable for 57 to 65 €
a double. Swimming pool. Obligatory half-board in
full season.
La Gacholle,

mid-March.
In the heart of the “garrigue”, a
pleasant bastide with cosy and quiet rooms. Magnificent views on the Petit
Luberon, from its terrace and multi-levelled garden where the swimming pool and
tennis are at the lower level. Very sympathetic welcome smelling. Rooms are
perfect. Try to have one with a balcony or rooms with iron wrought furnishing
and Provencal fabrics. Count here 67 to 96.50 €
for a double. Expensive breakfast: 9.95 €.
