This restaurant is a very agreeable one, in the middle of the village but near
the castle. I read on a local brochure it is an ancient postal horses relay of
the 17th century. Provencal cuisine of course with also a menu,
generous, inventive and delicious. Another one for 21.50
€. Anchois
farcis au beurre d’escargot et aux petits gris, la salade caille au vinaigre
or a fondue de lapin aux cepes, etc….

Recreation, near
the chateau tel 0490682373

in a Provencal house with terrace. Nice terrace in front of a bourgeois home.
Regional cuisine and grillades. Other menu for 23.50 €. Soupe de poisson et loup au thym, escalope de saumon a l’oseille,
emince de boeuf aux cepes, cabri farci roti au four.Good little address.
Les Antiquaires
(with the gracious help of Margaret and Chuck Pilgrim from San-Francisco)
Owned by a young couple who left La Feniere, and is housed in the original La Feniere restaurant. I started with foie gras poele with grapes, armagnac, pear confit. It was stunning. Chuck had a smoked salmon parmentier, which he loved. For plat, I had Pinteau stuffed with mushroom, potato and leek cake with a fabulous sauce. Chuck had a "piece of beef" with foie gras, chopped green cabbage,
chanterelles, and a straw potato fringe. About half way through he said, "We're coming back here tomorrow night!" We drank a 1/2 bottle of Cote du Luberon, Chateau le Canorgue. With Badoit and coffees,
76.50
€.
We returned to Les Antiquaires for dinner. Chuck started with the foie gras I had enjoyed so the night before. I ordered a
roulade of magret and chicken liver which was served with a salade "rose". Both excellent. Chuck had porc tenderloin stuffed with prunes with sauteed apple and straw potato fan, served with several prunes rolled in bacon. He practically licked the plate. I ordered a manage of fish served with saffron risotto: salmon, monk, rouget, sea bass, served with 3 double mussel shells, each full of the tiniest mussels. Heavenly sauce. Bowing to my fish, we enjoyed a 1/2 bottle of Sancere. With
Badoit and coffee, 71.20
€. The plates at Les Antiquaires are stunning visually as well as to the taste. I should add that the dining room is elegant, the music subtle, and madame most
charming. You will note that none of the dishes I have described are particularly inventive, just well conceived and prepared with great
fondness.

How can I describe such a place? It is superb. A mas where you feel the
instant you walk in that there is a spirit living here.
On a hill,
overlooking the the Luberon and the valley of the Durance, set in a wonderful
domain, with pool and gardens, a wonderful mas, a beauty of integration of
modern and traditional Provence. Quietness, taste and refinement are the words
to express the feeling when you stay here. Jovial welcome with that touch of
familiarity I like so much. But that’s not all. The cuisine here is of the
highest standards, cooked by one of France’s leading female-chef, Reine Sammut.
In a vaulted dining room with harmonious and warm colors, prolonged by a
beautiful terrace, her cuisine jumps in the sortileges of savors of which she
has the secret. We had dinner there that summer and it was a great experience.
For 29 €
we had: beignets d’aubergines aux legumes de jardin sauce aux
melets (fry of anchovy), daurade grillee cote peau a l’huile d’olive avec
croustillant de legumes au basilic. My wife had as dessert
a chou aux pignons de pin et miel crème vanille entoure de fruits rouges and I
had a soupe de melons et granite de Beaumes de Venise. Wine was a bottle Cote du
Luberon Chateau La Canorgue 1995.
You have
even a larger dinner for 48.75 €. Definitively, THE address in the Luberon!
