Creperie La Cancalaise, rue Vallée Porçon Tél : 33(0)299 897122
Cheap pancake place but cooked like they did it 100 years ago. Tradition is not a vain word. The real crepes bretonnes! 13.80 € for a meal.

Restaurant l'Armada, 8 quai Thomas, tel 0299896002
Fish and seafood from the baie Saint Michel. . Sincere cuisine trying some escapades to other regions. Crabe farci à l'antillaise, queues de langoustines en gelée, truite de mer aux endives. Menus 20 to 24.50 €.

Le Troquet, 19 quai Gambetta tel 0299896984.
Very convivial, good ambience. Nice bistro décor. You pay for value. And they don't forget to combine finesse and originality. Velouté d'oursins, millefeuille de chou aux langoustines, meli-mélo de poisons nobles, blanquette de volaille fermière. There has been some laissez-aller, lately. Let's hope it will go for the better. Menus for 17 and 30.50 €.

Le Cancalais, quai Gambetta 12, tel 0299896193
Comfortable auberge with a covered terrace and a view on the port. It since to taste here all kind of sea products, simply and prepared without big surprise. Efficacious staff and friendly service. The two menus are a good deal. 13.75 and 34.50 €.

Menu poisson for 19 €. Other menus for 15.50 € and 24.50 €.

Le Surcouf, Port de la Houle, 7 quai Gambetta tel 0299896175
It is difficult to pick a restaurant in the over 30 restaurants ion this quay. The Surcouf is a "coup de coeur" from de Gault/Millau (love at first sight). A nice view and imaginative and natural cuisine. Fresh products like the escalope de saumon cru farci de tourteaux épicé, or ragout de homard en galette de blé noir, or bar roti au vinaigre de miel. Menus for 15.75 and 40.50 €. A la carte count 47 to 54 €.
A little outside Cancale at SAINT-MELOIR-DES-ONDES:

Le Coquillage, Le Point du Jour tel 0599892525
A bistro with sea products sounds nothing special but this one is a chateau-bistrot! It is Olivier Roellinger and his wife who transformed the ground floor of the chateau de Richieux. Two dining rooms with wonderful views on the bay Saint Michel. The place is clean and simple. A strict carte, as well as the contents as the prices, but very alluring and filled with small inventions: Soupe d'étrilles, velouté d'oursins, poelée de palourdes or saint-jacques, saint-pierre en vapeur d'algues, or a wonderful cabillaud salé. A chariot of desserts kills you at the spot! The bread is super tasty, the salted butter divine, and the two menus deserve a medal of honour: 18.50 and 39.95 €. Perfect service.
